The Big Gay Picnic meets in the Cypress Grove Picnic Area in Balboa Park, near 6th Avenue and Quince Drive in San Diego.

The area is tucked into the west side of the park and is locally known by many in the community as “Gay Beach.” When you get close, keep an eye out for our Pride flags — they’re usually the easiest way to spot us.

PARKING NOTICE

TEMPORARY PARKING CHANGE Paid parking is in effect in Balboa Park

Beginning January 2026 and continuing through January 2027, the City of San Diego is charging for parking in Balboa Park and along adjoining 6th Avenue, including Sundays. Meter rates are $2.50 per hour, up to $10 a day and are enforced between 8 am and 6 pm daily. Parking is free, with no time limit, at parking meters for those with a Disabled Person license plate or placard.
